The World of Àea

In High Fantasy writing, the goal is to build a world so dense with information that it is easy to become immersed in it.
Part of what makes High Fantasy “high” is that it is underpinned by a sufficient quantity of well-thought-out worldbuilding
that the reader is constantly wondering why a place was named this, or what happened to so-and-so’s brother. Building
such a world can take years for an author, and when you factor in languages, locations, characters, millennia of history,
culture and race, origins of all kinds, families, marriages, food, etc. it becomes easy to see that the focus is on immersion.
High Fantasy is a world of its own, like ours but with everything exaggerated and fantastical, with good and evil locked
in a conflict that will involve thousands of years and multiple generations of heroes and villains. As such, here is presented
a number of different pages with various excerpts from the Lore of Àea, particularly at a high level. Click to be taken
to other pages where more information is presented on each topic. You will also find maps below, full-size and in color.

Click to the left to view various maps of my world. The majority of the current works will occur on the central continent of Abynàea, but there will be other maps featuring other areas, as well as maps of regions within the various continents as they pertain to various stories.

The races and peoples of Àea are many and varied, and their origins, cultures, languages, and nature are unique. Click the text at the left to link to a list of the sapient beings in the world of Àea.

Locations

The lands of Àea are full of memory of the ancient days that are gone now forever. Some are gone forever, from cities and mountains to entire continents, they remain stalwart, or pass into legend and history. Click the text at left to link to a list of notable locales within Àea’s world.

Characters

Through the roughly 7,000 years of history that are embedded within the world, heroes and villains have risen and fallen. Their deeds have shaped the face of Àea, sometimes in ways that will affect other characters thousands of years later.
